Get Involved
FIU has programs, organizations and committees for LGBTQIA+ students, faculty, staff and their allies. Getting involved means opportunities for personal growth, leadership development, making friends, enhancing your resume, and educating the campus community and others about LGBTQIA+ issues.
Volunteer
The Pride Center hosts several events for students, faculty, and staff to help plan and implement as volunteers and as part of planning committees throughout the year. These are for events such as Transgender Day of Remembrance, World AIDS Day, and the Pride Parade. If you are interested in signing up as a volunteer, please complete the application here.
Internships
Internships at The Pride Center are offered during the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters under the guidance of the Program Manager. Each intern will develop semester goals that will be implemented throughout the year. If you are interested in interning, please complete the application here.
Intern Hours (5-10hrs)
- Intern Responsibilities
- Intern is responsible for completing all assignments and tasks given to them by Program Coordinator and Program Manager
- Interns will assist with event programming, marketing/promotions, social media, content creation, and student affairs tabling
- Intern will assist with content development and student affairs research when needed
- Intern will participate in daily operations, biweekly team meetings, and any additional shadowing opportunities as they become available
- Intern will be incorporated in a supportive & collaborative work environment that fosters individual and professional growth
