Amber Williams, MSW

Education:
PhD Candidate in Counseling Psychology, Howard University;
Master of Social Work, University of Southern California;
Bachelor of Science in Sociology: Law & Society, California State University Los Angeles

Approach to Therapy:
Amber takes an integrative approach to therapy, tailoring treatment to the unique needs of each client. She primarily uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns, strengthen coping skills, and build resilience. She frequently incorporates psychodynamic insights to deepen understanding of how early experiences and relationships shape present-day challenges.
Amber views therapy as a collaborative partnership where clients bring their lived experiences and she provides evidence-based strategies within a safe, supportive environment. She has worked across a multitude of diverse settings including community mental health clinics, college counseling centers, hospitals, and crisis services. This has informed her sensitivity to the ways culture, systemic factors, and social context impact the mental health of individuals, groups, and communities. Her goal is to help clients move beyond symptom management and continue toward self-acceptance, confidence, and more meaningful connections with others.
